Microblogs are not thoughts, not thoughtful.
I’ve been very careful to build a high signal fediverse feed and while I do feel I have control over it, I’ve found the issue is that I still fall into the pattern of not stopping to think about what I’ve seen often enough.
The content is different but the learned behavior is still the same 🤔
You can build the most thoughtfully constructed hammer in the world, but you'll always find it's only useful for hammering in nails.
Twitter, the origin point that federated platforms such as Mastodon were based on, was originally conceived of as a Microblog of only 140 characters. By the time I've finished typing this sentence I'll have typed 786 characters, which is short for a blog post.
This is the length a post would have been, if you maxed out the original character limit. It could be witty. Pithy even. But thoughtful? No.
You should not expect something that is built to do one thing to do another. While sometimes they do, that is rare.
